Heather Perez Arroyo is an immigration attorney who has specialized in detention and removal defense with a demonstrated commitment to public interest work. She is skilled in legal advocacy, litigation, coalition building, communication, and policy analysis. Prior to joining MLRI, she was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Boston College Law School where she taught in the Immigration Clinic and supervised student attorneys representing indigent immigrants in removal proceedings. Before clinical teaching, she provided direct legal representation to immigrants unjustly detained by ICE as the Greater Boston Immigrant Defense Fund Fellow at the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation (PAIR) Project. Prior to law school, Heather worked in public service for over five years, crafting legislation and organizing to advance progressive policies in Boston. Heather earned her bachelor’s degree from Boston University and her J.D. from Boston College Law School.
