Ann Jochnick joined MLRI as a housing attorney in 2019.  Prior to that she was a senior housing attorney at Greater Boston Legal Services where she worked for 17 years.  Ann has a breadth of knowledge in advocacy with low-income tenants and community organizations, including expertise in affordable housing preservation and fair housing.  She was lead counsel on anti-discrimination cases before the Mass. Supreme Judicial Court (Boston Housing Authority v. Bridgewaters, disability and reasonable accommodation; and Burbank Apartments Tenant Association v. Kargman, disparate impact under Mass. fair housing law).  With tenants and organizers, she has successfully advocated for the preservation of thousands of affordable apartments and worked in coalition to pass Massachusetts’ affordable housing preservation law, G.L. c. 40T. Ann received her J.D. from the Univ. of Michigan Law School, was a judicial clerk on the Connecticut Supreme Court for the Hon. Ellen Peters, and was a Skadden Fellow.   Prior to her legal career, she worked for seven years with community-based organizations in the U.S. and Latin America.
